With this upgrade kit, you can equip your existing SRAM AXS Road or Gravel groupset with the new AXS HRD shifting brake system and the Hammerhead Karoo bike computer, which can be integrated into the Red groupset.
Hammerhead Karoo bike computer (3rd generation)
The new Hammerhead Karoo is a milestone in terms of innovation, design and performance. It features an impressive smartphone-quality screen with the best display for color visualization and intuitive configuration of your ride data and maps. Operation is via the responsive touchscreen or alternatively via classic buttons. The combination of sophisticated design and innovative software makes the Karoo particularly user-friendly. The fast quad-core processor with 4 GB RAM ensures smooth operation, short charging times and improved battery life. The internal memory of 64 GB offers more space for your maps, routes and training plans. Hammerhead offers the most agile software on the market. Fresh features and improvements keep your device always up to date.
AXS HRD shift-brake system
With the new AXS HRD shift-brake system, SRAM has made the biggest leap in development among the new Red components. Both the shape of the hoods and the carbon brake lever have been redesigned. In addition to improved ergonomics for a wider range of hand sizes, the redesigned brake levers offer significantly better power transmission from all handlebar positions. Thanks in part to a modified pivot point and the relocation of the primary piston to the shifter body, the brakes can be applied with just one finger both in the lower handlebars and in the hoods. Another highlight is the additional shift button integrated into the hoods, which can also be used to operate ANT+-compatible bike computers. The textured main shift paddles work according to the proven eTap shift logic. One rocker switch for upshifting and one rocker switch for downshifting. If both paddles are operated simultaneously, the front derailleur is shifted. The shifting behaviour can be personalized via the SRAM AXS app and additional SRAM Wireless Blip Shifters can also be integrated. The lever width can of course be adjusted using an easy-to-reach hexagon socket screw. Independently of this, the pressure point on the lever can also be adjusted to prevent contact between the lever and handlebars.
The brake callipers, which have also been redesigned, are not only stiffer but also significantly lighter. The pad gap has been widened for easy installation and friction-free operation. Bleeding Edge technology ensures simple and clean bleeding.
Thanks to the slim design, SRAM was able to save an impressive 83 grams of weight on the Red HRD shift-brake system compared to the previous version.
