The process
As one of the more advanced techniques used in the Project One paint shop, painters are thoroughly trained to master the art of Tie Dye. The iconic look takes meticulous paint application and a little imagination.
This process begins with a white base coat before pastel or traditional tie dye colors are added to the frame. These colors not only need to be carefully applied and blended to get gradients of each hue, but to give each bike that radial, tie-dyed pattern you’d find on a t-shirt, painters have to imagine a center location of the frame to begin their spiraling color burst.
Each section is then painted as if the entire frame was tied with rubber bands, dyed, and rinsed — just like you’d do at home. The result? An always fashionable, one-of-a-kind bike paint scheme you can’t get anywhere else.
